Tatura 200 Charity Bike Ride & Walk a great success!

The inaugural Tatura 200 Charity Bike Ride & Walk was held on Saturday 17th November 2018 and according to all involved was an outstanding success. Championed by Tatura Milk Industries the event raised $90,000 which will be distributed to local charities and organisations in the Goulburn Valley.

“2018 marked the eleventh Tatura 200 event with an accumulative total of $950,000 raised over the years. Tatura Milk Industries is proud to support the local community and provide an opportunity for participants, volunteers and community groups to work together”. Event Manager Georgia Vibert said.

A total of 320 riders and walkers participated in the event, which catered for participants at all levels of ability and fitness. Riders had a choice of completing a 200km, 100km or 50km scenic ride that took in local orchards, dairy farms, country townships, the occasional Goulburn River crossing and views of Waranga Basin. The new 25km Gears & Graze ride was a popular addition, with over 100 riders cycling to Longleat Wines in Murchison for an afternoon of wine, food and live music in the beautiful vineyard setting. Those not a fan of the bike had the option of walking a 10km track taking in Tatura.

Georgia Vibert commented “once again we had so much support from within the business and community to help make the day a success, over 60 volunteers, including many Tatura Milk staff provided help either as support on the day or in the lead up to the ride”.

The Lions Club of Tatura cooked a delicious breakfast and lunch for the hungry riders and walkers. With many local community groups and organisations assisting with support cars, registrations, marshalling, drink stops and signage installation.

Marian Community (Division of VincentCare Victoria), an organisation that supports and cares for women and children affected by domestic violence was the major recipient with a cheque presented for $50,000. Other deserving groups to receive funding included Give Me 5 For Kids, FamilyCare, Goulburn Valley Health – Tatura Campus, Tatura CFA and many others.

Tatura Milk Industries and Bega Cheese donated $20,000 and also funded many of the costs associated with staging the ride. The fundraising effort was greatly assisted by many of

Tatura Milk Industries customers and suppliers with companies such as Kaeser Compressors, MPD Dairy Products, Mitsubishi Australia Ltd, Ozweld Group, Hoogwegt Dairy and Louis Dreyfus Company adding corporate sponsorship to the event.
